About the Event
Overseas Filipinos are among the world’s largest diaspora, with an estimated 10 million Filipinos living and working abroad. Their achievements, challenges, and aspirations take centerstage at the 1st Overseas Filipino Expo. With the theme “Global Opportunities, Local Possibilities”, the goal of the expo is to provide a broader and more inclusive perspective of Overseas Filipino experiences: from immigrants, professionals, blue-collar workers, to students.
Among the featured speakers at the whole day event are financial literacy advocate Fitz Villafuerte, RFP of Ready to Be Rich, Taiwan-based Anne Quintos of Abroad Me, and Angat Pilipinas founder Burn Gutierrez. There will also be talks and panels on balikbayan prospects, study abroad options, and insights from Manila-based expatriates. Participants may also explore various services and products exhibited at the expo that are tailored to OFWs and their families.
The book launch of Saanman: Mga Kuwento Mula sa Biyahe, Bagahe, at Balikbayan Box, edited by National Book Awardee Jack A. Alvarez, will also be held at the event. The book, published under the PageJump Folio imprint, is an anthology of short stories about Filipinos in the diaspora – from Dubai, Hong Kong, New York, to Tel Aviv – penned by some of the country’s prominent literati as well as budding fictionists.
Organized by PageJump Media, the 1st Overseas Filipino Expo will take place on June 16 (Saturday) at Fisher Mall Expo Hall in Quezon Avenue, Quezon City. Admission is free. For more details, email projects@pagejumpmedia.com or contact +63917-860-9623.
