Matilda and the revolting children are heading to Netflix this holiday season!

Netflix is releasing Roald Dahl’s Matilda The Musical as a new film starring Alisha Weir as the smart and extraordinary Matilda. The streaming giant has just dropped the first teaser trailer for the upcoming film, giving us glimpses of the catchy musical numbers such as Revolting Children and the film’s take on Mrs. Trunchbull.

Matilda The Musical tells the story of the gifted girl Matilda who is neglected by her parents. Worse, the principal of her school, Mrs. Trunchbull, is a terrifying bully. But when Matilda realizes that she has telekinetic powers, she begins to use them to fight back against the people that mistreat her and her fellow children.

The film is directed by Matthew Warchus with original music and lyrics by Tim Minchin. It also stars Emma Thompson, Lashana Lynch, Stephen Graham, Andrea Riseborough, Sindhu Vee, Charlie Hodson-Prior, Meesha Garbett, Rei Yamauchi Fulker, Winter Jarrett Glasspool, Andrei Shen, and Ashton Robertson.

The film will be released on Netflix this holiday season. Sony Pictures U.K. and Tristar Pictures will also release the film exclusively in cinemas in UK and Ireland on December 2, 2022.
