Intramuros is the oldest district and historic core of Manila, the capital of the Philippines. Known as the Walled City, the original fortified city of Manila was the seat of the Spanish government during the Spanish colonial period.

Walking is highly recommended to get to your destination. For longer distances, take a tricycle or a pedicab

For a different experience, try riding a Calesa (horse-drawn carriage) around the district, or go hi-tech and take a Segway tour

Have cash and loose change in hand for entrance fees to the museums, historical attractions, and small souvenirs

Wear comfortable and light clothing and footwear (basic shirt, jeans, slippers/rubber shoes).
