iPhone 14 Officially Announced with New AirPods Pro & Apple Watch Roster
Apple has finally launched its latest iPhone series, the iPhone 14, which comes in four variants: the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 14 Plus, and iPhone 14 Pro Max. With the absence of the mini, this year’s roster boasts more customizations on the iPhone’s look and upgrades on its most sought-after features.
The iPhone 14 & iPhone 14 Plus
The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus share the same chip from last year’s iPhone 13 Pro model, the A15. Both have Super Retina XDR, OLED display, with the iPhone 14 sporting a 6.1″ display and the iPhone 14 Plus having a 6.7″ display. Both phones also feature a longer battery life– promising up to 26 hours of video playback for the iPhone 14 Plus, and up to 20 hours for the iPhone 14.
These new models are also equipped with better camera setups with its 12 MP main camera that could shoot better low-light photos; smoother videos with the Action Mode; Cinematic Mode that can produce videos in 4K, 24 fps; and a new TrueDepth front camera with autofocus and larger aperture.
The Philippine price for the iPhone 14 starts from P56,990 while the iPhone 14 Plus starts from P63,990, with storage capacities available in 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB. Both models are available in the following colors: Blue, Purple, Midnight, Starlight, and Product Red.
The iPhone 14 Pro & iPhone 14 Pro Max
For those who want the best an iPhone could offer, Apple also announced the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. Sporting 6.1″ and 6.7″ display sizes respectively, these two new phones are made with a Ceramic Shield front, textured matte glass back, and stainless steel design. Its batteries can last up to 23 hours for the iPhone 14 Pro and up to 29 hours for the Pro Max.
Equipped with Apple’s latest A16 Bionic chip, the Pro models will also introduce a new feature called Dynamic Island, Apple’s innovation that is “hardware and software and something in between.” Integrated with the new iOS 16, the Dynamic Island offers seamless multitasking across apps and also blends into the new pill-shaped notch on the face of the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max. Another new feature is the always-on display that goes dark only when the iPhone is turned face down or in your pocket.
You can also further customize your lock screen with iOS 16, letting you pick your fonts, make a layered lock screen photo, and see your activity rings.
As for their camera setups, these Pro models are equipped with the new 48MP Main camera and advanced quad-pixel sensor that’s 65% larger compared to the iPhone 13 Pro, delivering up to 4X more resolution in ProRAW. Additional camera features include a new Pro camera system that adds a 2x optical‑quality Telephoto to its zoom range; Cinematic Mode in 4K, 24 fps; Action mode for smoother videos; and TrueDepth front camera with autofocus and a larger aperture.
The iPhone 14 Pro’s Philippine price starts at P70,990 while the iPhone 14 Pro Max starts at P77,990. Both phones come with storage capacity options of 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB; and the following color options: Space Black, Silver, Gold, and Deep Purple.
New Apple Watch Models & AirPods Pro
Alongside the announcement of the new iPhone 14 series, Apple also dropped some news on their wearables. Apple has launched the Apple Watch Ultra (From P52,990) perfect for athletes and outdoor enthusiasts; the Apple Watch Series 8 (From P25,990) designed to give better insights into women’s health; and the more affordable Apple Watch SE (From P15,990). Apple also highlights the Emergency SOS feature of these watches, which means they can detect if you’re in a car crash, and would automatically contact dispatchers to send help to your location.
Apple also announced the second iteration of their AirPods Pro (2nd Generation) with the new H2 chip, which doubles its noise cancellation when compared to its predecessor, and has a Personalize Spatial Audio for a better listening experience.
The new AirPods Pro’s Touch control also allows you to easily adjust the volume; pause or play your music; answer or end calls; or switch between Active Noise Cancellation and Adaptive Transparency all from the stem. The device promises up to 6 hours of listening time with Active Noise Cancellation enabled, and up to 30 hours of total listening time with the case. The AirPods Pro’s price in the Philippines is P14,990.
