Cooper was born in Sylvania Township, Lucas County, Ohio, where he attended Sylvania Northview High School. He grew up with his mother Wendy and his father Mike and his two brothers. Cooper is the youngest out of the three boys. At age 17 Cooper did stand up comedy in Toledo. After high school he attended Arizona State University for one year. He then dropped out of college to pursue his acting career in Los Angeles.
At 20, Cooper was offered one of the lead roles in the film Project X. He, Thomas Mann and Jonathan Daniel are three unknown actors in the film. However, Mann is known for his role in the indie film It's Kind of a Funny Story. Cooper got the audition because of his friend, Shaun Weiss. After Project X's production, Cooper was offered a role in the film Grown Ups 2. However, he could not accept due to some scheduling problems. In 2013, he was offered different parts in films, and is set to star in the film Runner, Runner. In addition, for his role in Project X, he was nominated for two MTV awards. Cooper did not win these awards, but he was the only one who stood out as an unknown.

Cooper's inspirations are Bill Murray, Robin Williams and John Goodman. His favorite film is The Big Lebowski. Cooper is working on creating his own feature film which; his friend, Joe Burke, is helping him with creating the indie film. Cooper lives with his aunt, four dogs, and three cousins.
