Megan "Meg" Foster (born May 10, 1948) is an American actress best known for her roles in the TV miniseries version of The Scarlet Letter, Ticket to Heaven, The Osterman Weekend, and They Live(1988).
She played Detective Christine Cagney for the first six episodes of the first season of Cagney & Lacey until she was replaced by Sharon Gless. Allegedly,CBS was unhappy with her performance, thinking that her playing a strong woman would make viewers think the character was a lesbian.
Throughout the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s, she has guest starred in countless TV shows including two episodes of Hawaii Five-O (1973 & 1976), The Six Million Dollar Man season two episode "Straight on 'till Morning" (1974) Three for the Road (1975), and the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine season four episode "The Muse" (1996). Other popular TV shows she has appeared in include Bonanza; The Twilight Zone; Barnaby Jones; Murder, She Wrote; Miami Vice; The Cosby Show; Quantum Leap; ER; and Xena: Warrior Princess. She is also well known for playing the villainous Evil-Lyn in the big screen version of Masters of the Universe and the Greek goddess Hera in Hercules: The Legendary Journeys.
