María Valverde Rodríguez (born in Madrid, Community of Madrid, Spain on March 24, 1987) is a Spanish actress.
Career
She was born in Carabanchel, Madrid. At the age of 16 she starred in The Weakness of the Bolshevik, for which she won the 2003 Goya Award for Best New Actress.
She has also taken part in several films, such as Melissa P., a film based on the polemic book One Hundred Strokes of the Brush Before Bed by Melissa Panarello, as well as co-starring with Eva Green in the 2009 independent British drama film Cracks, produced by Ridley Scott and directed by his daughter, Jordan Scott.
In 2013, she will play the lead in the drama Broken Horses, co-starring with Anton Yelchin, also she's filming 400 Boys, which is due to release in mid-2013.
Valverde appears in the 2014 film Exodus: Gods and Kings, directed by Ridley Scott, alongside Hollywood names Christian Bale, Sigourney Weaver, and Ben Kingsley, among others.
Personal life
In 2009, Valverde began dating fellow actor Mario Casas to coincide in the filming of the movie La mula (Mule), which wasn't released until May 2013 due to various problems. After months of speculations, Mario's sister Sheila announced on September 11, 2014 that Mario Casas and María Valverde split up a few months ago, after five years of dating.
On September 19, 2014, it was announced that Casas broke up with Valverde in Spring 2014 to get in a relationship with Palmeras en la nieveco-star Berta Vazquez.
