Emma Roberts is joining Sony’s Spider-Man universe!

Scream Queens and American Horror Story star Emma Roberts has joined the ensemble for Sony’s upcoming film Madame Web, Deadline reports.

Much like Venom and Morbius, Sony’s Madame Web is yet another character from the world of Spider-Man that’s getting a live-action film from Sony. In the comics, Madame Web is an elderly woman who suffers from myasthenia gravis and has life support resembling a spider web. Instead of physically fighting against villains, Madame Web has the power of precognition and clairvoyance which she uses to help the innocent.

The upcoming movie will star 50 Shades of Gray actress Dakota Johnson in the titular role alongside Sydney Sweeney, Celeste O’Connor, Isabela Merced, and Tahar Rahim. It has yet to be revealed what role Roberts will be playing in the film.

Sony continues to shape its movie universe featuring Spider-Man characters. Other films also slated for release from Sony are Kraven the Hunter starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson and the Bad Bunny starrer El Muerto.

Madame Web is set for release in the US on July 7, 2023. It is directed by S.J. Clarkson with a screenplay from Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless.
