About the Event
Last year, Black Box Productions staged Pat Valera & William Manzano’s “MULA SA BUWAN” – a new original Filipino musical about love and defiance. This February, “MULA SA BUWAN” returns once more to serenade those in love – and those with broken hearts. This month, MULA SA BUWAN will have a limited run this February 18, 19, 24, 25 & 26; 3PM & 7:30PM at the Henry Lee Irwin Theater, Ateneo de Manila University, Loyola Heights, Quezon City.
Adapted from Cyrano de Bergerac, “MULA SA BUWAN” is set in 1940s Manila with young ROTC cadets and blushing colegialas at the forefront. The play shows the innocence and beauty of our nation where music, wit, passion, and hope abound. However, when World War II strikes, honor, ideals, and love are all put to the test. The young, caught in between the anarchy, are suddenly forced to grow up.
The story then moves to a period after the war, to a field of rubble, of forgotten memories, of heroes lost in a country struggling to survive. At the center of it all, the tragic love story between Cyrano, Roxane, and Christian plays out.
Let this story about poets, fools, and dreamers who dare to live and love make you laugh, cry, remember, and discover!
Leading the cast is Nicco Manalo and Boo Buganda who alternately play the role of Cyrano; KL Dizon as Roxane; Fred Lo and Edward Benosa who alternately play the role of Christian.
MULA SA BUWAN is presented by SIP Purified Water and co-presented by Eastern Communications.
