4 Reasons Why You Shouldn’t Miss Out on San Miguel Oktoberfest Beer and Music Festival

Gear up for non-stop music and fun on September 12, 19, and October 3 as awesome music reigns supreme in this year's festivities, declared an official Philippine tourism event. Three kick-off parties await you, so check why you should catch year's Oktoberfest!

Gear up for non-stop music and fun on September 12, 19, and October 3 as awesome music reigns supreme in this year's Oktoberfest! San Miguel Oktoberfest Beer and Music Festival has officially been declared a Philippine tourism event, bringing in more partygoers from the country's different regions together to celebrate in the highly anticipated yearly festival. This year, not just one, but three kick-off parties await you, featuring an impressive, never-before-seen mashup of live music and DJ sets by the country's legends and up-and-coming artists.

Contrary to its name, Oktoberfest is an annual festival that kicks off during September Germany, where Oktoberfestbiers are supplied by breweries to accompany other attractions. In the Philippines, San Miguel Brewery, Inc. has been celebrating Oktoberfest for the past 35 years, and 2014 promises its audiences even more entertainment than before.

There's a lot of things store for you this year as San Miguel Oktoberfest Beer and Music Festival brings the party to you. Here are four reasons why you should catch year's Oktoberfest!

1. Rakista and clubbers unite to party with Philippine rock legends and top DJs.

Every music lover should not miss out on the Oktoberfest as the events gather talented artists catering to different kinds of music. For one, you'll rock out with masters of rock. Razorback, 6Cyclemind, Slapshock, Kjwan, Rivermaya, and Greyhoundz are out to showcase Philippine rock at its finest. Rakistas better get ready for unforgettable live performances!

If house music is more to your flavour than rock, then Oktoberfest's line up of the country’s top DJs will satisfy all you EMD lovers. Beats by DJs Mars Miranda will definitely keep pumping doses of adrenaline, as regular partyphiles of Republiq Club are sure to attest to its resident DJ's spins. Another staple DJ in the Manila night clubbing and events scene will take to the decks–DJ Ace Ramos, known for mashing different genres like hip-hop, chart-toppers, and electronica into a seamless night of fun on the dance floor. The turntables will also have the dynamic duo of Kat DJ & Patty Tiu, also known as Deuce Manila, to spice up Oktoberfest. Deuce Manila is the first female DJ duo in town and their unbeatable girl-power energy is addictive on the dance-floors of many popular hotspots in the metro. Rounding up the powerhouse cast of DJs is Brian Cua, resident party starter at Bed Malate and top DJ/remixer, to keep you up on your feet all night.

2. It's more fun in the Philippines, celebrating an all-Filipino showcase of musical talent.

San Miguel Oktoberfest takes the badge of being an official Philippine Fiesta quite seriously. Of all music festivals happening all over the country all year-round, San Miguel Oktoberfest sets the stage for pure Filipino and more world-class talents than any other foreign band or DJ. This year’s Oktoberfest will showcase our very own talents!

This year's line-up of live music at the Oktoberfest covers a broad spectrum of genres, including top university bands and emerging artists that draw in the young audiophiles. Chill-electro group Techy Romantics and indie rock band Taken by Cars, both fronted by females on lead vocals, are both set to grace the stage with their hit songs. Joining them are Yolanda Moon, Flying Ipis, Banda ni Kleggy, and more acts that will debut in the country’s grandest Oktoberfest celebration. But should you be craving for throwback tunes rather than songs from the new breed, a retro fix from Replay Band will delight you and your friends with popular covers!

3. Add extra fun to all parties with game booths and virtual sports games.

A 12-hour non-stop music revelry is enough to keep your energy juices flowing, but if you're the energizer bunny and still seek for more thrills at the Oktoberfest, there are featured booths during the event where you can enjoy virtual sports games like Basketball, Archery, Pool, Billiards, Frisbeer, Giant Darts, Soccer, Giant Connect 4, and Giant Jenga.

All three parties boast of a musical mash-up of rock, club, mainstream, and music from the new breed of university bands. In addition, there are over 70 barangay parties nationwide!
